A senior commissioned officer in the Sri Lanka Air Force (SLAF) retired in 2012. He had been in the field of aeronautical engineering in SLAF and had held many command appointments during his career as a military officer. Having worked for a few employers after his retirement from SLAF, he pursued his entrepreneurial instincts until he realized his passion, naming his company with his much obsessed name “SINHA”.

Thus, SINHASOLAR (Pvt) Ltd was a product of the fusion of his experience and entrepreneurial instincts. The company was enacted in the beginning of the year 2018 at 40/4 Hill Street Dehiwala, coinciding the period when the Sustainable Energy Authority (SEA) brought new reforms in the solar power business. The imposed strict regulations put all solar institutions under thorough scrutiny. This took the toll on new companies as they were put on hold until the existing companies were prioritized in sorting out. However in due course, SINHASOLAR was recognized by the SEA and cleared as a reliable institution to run this business with effect from May 2018.

Introduction

SINHASOLAR was registered consisting of two directors in the board, while the Managing Director being the sole proprietor of the company. This was articulated open, in order to pursue any legally opportune endeavour, not limiting itself only for solar business. However, the core business of the company remains in the solar power field.

The initial staff of Sinhasolar was limited to 6 personnel for the following posts: MD, Director/ Engineer, Chartered Engineer, two Technicians and Accountant. Upon obtaining SEA authority to carry out installations, Sinhasolar (Pvt) Ltd marked its history with its first project on the 16th of June 2018. The stepping stone happened to be the residence of Mr. Uraj Vithanage at 4/2, Kanakaratne Place, Laxapathiya, Moratuwa, who installed a 4 kW system. The mighty roar of Sinhasolar continues thence…
